Pale horses wade through a deep blue pond while an orange deer perches on a ledge above, with yellow-green leaves framing the lower edge. Two dark-framed pictures high in the scene hide two of the finder squares, and the third is masked by the painted canvas around it. The modules appear as dark olive and navy patches in the horses' coats, the tree branches and the shadowed wall, set against lighter ochre and cream areas. Thick dabbed brushstrokes give the pattern an uneven, hand-painted texture while contrast stays strong in the central block.
