A narrow Japanese alley at night, lined with wooden houses and hung with red and white paper lanterns. Large glowing lanterns and the dark window frames and roof edges of the nearest buildings stand in for the finder squares, while the smaller lanterns, tiled eaves and shuttered facades carry the modules. Dark timber and black sky against bright lantern panels give the pattern strong contrast, and the detail is spread evenly down the lane toward the vanishing point. Kanji lettering on the lanterns adds a fine, film-like texture.
