A small blue-capped bird sits on a thick branch heaped with pink sakura, navy and crimson blossoms, ochre petals and teal leaves, all brushed in ink-wash style on cream paper. Deep navy and maroon marks sit against the pale ground, so the pattern stays clear even among the soft washes. Calligraphy and red seal stamps add a traditional Chinese touch.
